We need a massive performance

1 October 2020

Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi says his side need to produce a big performance as they get set to face Bristol City on Saturday.

The Reds are yet to get off the mark this season and Lamouchi knows that a result is needed to get the season up and running.

He said: “We need to work together, we need to work in the same direction to know what we want. I know exactly what I want and I am not happy.

“I am more than happy with the squad, this squad is much better than the squad than last year. Now we need the result and after the result, we need the team and then the same spirit as last season.

“Unfortunately, when you start wrong and you have some injury problems and some stupid mistakes, you need to stop that and to make some important choices.

“The most important thing, for the fans and the club, is the win. It is the result at the end and without any points, we need a massive performance on Saturday because we need to start our season.”

There were many new faces in the squad in the last outing against Huddersfield and although Lamouchi admits it may take time for them to gel, he is certain that with the extra quality now at his disposal The Reds can pose serious problems to a Bristol City side that have made a flying start to the season.

He said: “The last game against Huddersfield, there were eight new players on the pitch and it is one game they have played together. Some players have only had three or four sessions, so we need time to recreate the same team spirit as last season.

“But I am sure about one thing, we have a better squad and I am sure that at the end this squad will get us to where we want to be.

“I don’t know about Saturday because it is close, but they are doing the maximum in each session to win the next game.

“We play the best team in this moment, with good momentum for them. It may be the right time to play them or not, but it is important for us to win, it is important for us to show them that in a bad situation, we are still alive. We want to win at home and to start our season.”
