Ten-man Nottingham Forest Under 18s were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup at the third-round stage following a 2-1 defeat to Bristol City at The City Ground.
The Reds took a seventh-minute lead when Dale Taylor finished superbly from the edge of the penalty area with a low strike that beat City goalkeeper James Walker but the visitors soon levelled when Alex Scott converted a spot-kick after Marlee Francois had been brought down in the box by James Clarridge.
The game hinged on a 29th-minute red card for Forest midfielder Jordan Fankwe. Having already been booked and received a final warning from referee Richard Eley, Fankwe put in another late challenge midway inside his own half and was duly shown a second yellow card.
City took advantage and the lead shortly before half-time when Prince Henry's goal-bound effort was turned into the net by Reds skipper Oli Hammond and despite plenty of second-half pressure, Forest couldn't find the all-important equaliser and exited the FA Youth Cup at the third-round stage.
