Nottingham Forest welcome Derby County to Eastwood Community Football Club on Sunday afternoon as they kick-off their home league campaign.
It’s the first East Midlands derby of the new season and The Reds will be hoping to replicate last season’s form against The Ewe Rams.
Forest picked up a maximum of two wins during last season as they enjoyed a 1-0 away win at Pride Park in the league and then a 3-2 FA Cup victory last December.
The Reds will also be hoping to record their first three points of the season after they picked up a draw in their opening day fixture last Sunday. Goals from Laura-Jayne O’Neill and Georgia Hewitt ensured Forest would come home with a point as they battled it out for a 2-2 draw away to West Bromwich Albion.
Derby will also be heading into this weekend’s fixture with all eyes on collecting a crucial win as they also fought for an opening day draw. The Ewe Rams hosted Loughborough Foxes last Sunday and they came from behind twice to ensure they picked up a point in a game that eventually ended 3-3.
The Ewe Rams’ top goal scorer from last season, Hannah Keryakoplis, was back amongst the goals last Sunday as she scored Derby’s second of the game. The forward will be hoping to add to her tally at the weekend and will be looking to cause chaos for the Forest defence on Sunday.
New Red, Rosie Axten, is set to face her former club at the weekend after she made the move from Derby to Forest during pre-season. Axten represented Derby for the latter half of the 2019-20 season but is donning the Garibaldi this term and put it in a great shift during her debut last week. Axten picked up an assist against The Baggies last Sunday as she set-up Hewitt’s goal in the game. The forward will be hoping to get off the mark this weekend and bag her first goal for Forest.
