Nottingham Forest make the long trip to the North East on Sunday afternoon as they travel to face Sunderland AFC.
Three points are in The Reds’ sight as they look to build on last Sunday’s spirited comeback. Forest were 2-0 down heading into stoppage time against Hull City but goals from Annabel McKechnie and Rosie Axten in the game’s final three minutes earned the side a 2-2 draw.
The Reds currently sit five places above Sunderland in the league standings as five points separate the two sides. A win on Sunday won’t only see Forest pick up their first win three weeks but it can help pull them closer to the league leaders.
But a win will also be crucial for Sunderland on Sunday after they have endured a turbulent start to the campaign. The Lasses have suffered four losses from their opening seven games and have picked three wins from their other fixtures.
Their most recent outing was on the road last Sunday as they fell to a 2-1 defeat away to West Brom who netted their winner on the 88th minute to inflict late heartbreak on Sunderland. Holly Manders netted Sunderland’s only goal of the game as she bagged her second of the season to see her sit joint top of team’s goal scoring charts alongside Kiera Ramshaw.
Sunderland are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and face a tough task at recording their first on Sunday when they face The Reds. Forest are amongst the highest goal scorers in the league this season so far, as they have scored a whopping 21 goals. 11 different Reds have contributed to the goals so far and the side will be looking to continue that form at the weekend.
