Interview with Rachel Brown

18 November 2020

Rachel Brown loves being able to call herself a Red as she reflects on her first few months with the club.

Brown was Nottingham Forest’s first summer signing of the season and she’s enjoyed her first three months Trentside.

She said: “The first few months at the club have been great, the girls are so friendly and we have a really good sense of togetherness.

“We’ve been working hard in training and the coaches are guiding us to get to where we want to be and I love being able to call myself a Red.”

The midfielder featured in six of the side’s opening eight games of the season so far and her favourite moment in the Garibaldi was getting off the mark against Sheffield FC.

“My favourite moment so far would have to be coming on against Sheffield and scoring my first goal for The Reds,” Brown explained.

“I’d been out for a few games through injury which was annoying so the goal definitely added to the excitement of being back playing.”

But Brown and the rest of the team’s contributions on the field came to a halt earlier this month as the whole of the FA Women’s National League were forced to stop playing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 20-year-believes that this is a chance for the side to reflect on their season performances so far.

Brown said: “Hearing that we had to stop playing due to the pandemic was so frustrating but obviously the health of us all is the most important thing but the season had only just begun so having to stop playing wasn’t ideal.

“Having said this, it has given us an opportunity to reflect on our performances and hopefully get our heads down again when we get back to playing.”

Brown states that the minimum month away from the field only adds extra motivation to the side when they finally return.

“Yes it definitely does add more motivation,” she said.

“For me personally it’s reminded me that we’ve got to play every game like it could be our last and make sure we’re doing everything we can to win each game.

“I can’t wait to be back playing and hopefully as a team we can really push on to continue to be battling at the top of the table.”
