Match preview: Huddersfield Town vs Nottingham Forest

5 March 2020

Nottingham Forest travel to face Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon as they aim to collect their sixth consecutive league win.

The Reds haven’t suffered a league loss since September and put two past The Terriers to pick up a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture back in September. Precious Hamilton netted two first-half penalty kicks to put Forest in control and the side remained strong to collect all three points despite Huddersfield clawing a consolation goal back.
Three places currently separate the two sides in the league standings with The Reds occupying third place and The Terries sitting in sixth. Seven points is the bridge between the two teams with Forest having picked up eight victories this season and Huddersfield only five.
Forest’s last 90 minutes of league action come two weeks ago when they sealed a 2-1 win over Fylde with only seconds to go. Bex Rayner had netted the opening goal early on in the first-half but Fylde drew themselves level and the points were set to be shared but Helena Constantinou came off the bench to net a 93rd minute winner and steal all three points.
The Terrier’s last league outing also came two weeks ago when they settled for a 1-1 draw away to Stoke City. Kate Mallin put Huddersfield ahead on the 25th minute but Ella Pemberton found the back of the net for The Potters 17 minutes from time to ensure the spoils were shared.
Lucy Sowerby has been a key player for side throughout the course of the season as she has been hot amongst the goals. The forward has netted 18 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season and was the player in blue and white to score against The Reds back in September.
Precious Hamilton will be looking to add to her impressive goal tally against Huddersfield on Sunday as The Reds’ striker has netted four goals against the side in two games this season. Both sides met in the opening game of the season back in August in the FA Women’s National League Cup where despite Forest taking the lead twice Huddersfield ran out as 4-3 winners. Hamilton netted two goals during that game and two more a month later when Forest inflicted revenge in the league and will be hoping to score more on Sunday.
