Nottingham Forest will be hoping their Sunday fixture won’t fall victim to the weather again as they face Middlesbrough away in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s National League Plate.
The Reds travelled to play the tie last Sunday but the game was abruptly called off 30 minutes before kick-off due to a frozen pitch.
Both sides met at Eastwood CFC last Sunday where an own goal saw Forest deservedly seal all three points. Mai Moncaster found Bolu Fisher out wide with a short pass who’s crossed then caused havoc in the ‘Boro box and was turned into their own net by their own centre back. Fisher put in an impressive shift for the side as she picked up the opposition player of the match award for her efforts. It was Fisher’s third opposition player of the match award in as many starts as she has also produced great performances against Burnley and Derby County.
The Reds booked their place in this Sunday’s Plate tie with a 3-0 win over Leeds United back in December. Laura Dexter found the back of the net in the first-half and Precious Hamilton rounded off the scoring with a second-half brace to ease past the Yorkshire outfit.
‘Boro progressed through to the final eight with a convincing 7-0 away victory to Stockport County back in November 2019. Tyler Dodds and Jasmie McQuade netted a hat-trick each and Eleanor Dale added to the score-line with a single effort and after none of the ‘Boro side managed to find the back of the net last Sunday they’ll be searching to etch their names on the scoresheet at the weekend.
