Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the signing of defender Hollie Barker from FA Women’s Championship side Sheffield United.
The 28-year-old will boost The Reds’ back-line as she brings a wealth of experience to the club. Barker has spent the past two years with The Blades and was one of the few members of the squad retained when the side won a place in the second tier of women’s football.
Barker first joined the side when they were plying their trade in the Division One Midlands league but when the top two leagues of English women’s football were re-formed in 2018 Barker and the rest of United made the jump up to semi-professional football.
She held down a regular first-team spot last season and played a key part in the side ending their season in fine form with a seven-game winning streak. Barker started every single game of the side’s impressive run-in to the end of the season and played a full 90 minutes of the six of the seven games and she will be hoping to replicate that form with The Reds for the rest of this season.
Barker has also previously represented Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United but has now made the move out Yorkshire to join the Tricky Trees as the side look to fight up the top end of the league table.
On joining The Reds’, she said: “I am delighted to have signed for Nottingham Forest. I knew from the minute I met the management staff and saw the facilities that this was the perfect move for me, where I could get back to loving playing football again”
“I am so excited to get started with a club that has so much ambition and drive. I have been keeping my eyes on the results and the girls are doing exceptional, I can't wait to be a part of this great club and push for promotion."
