Mai Moncaster and the rest of the Nottingham Forest team are all ready to fight for their place in the semi-finals of Nottinghamshire County Cup on Sunday as they face the Notts County development side in the final eight.
“Everyone is buzzing for the game, especially after the last one against Newark in the second round,” she said.
“We don’t know much about Notts County but we definitely know they’ll be up for it and up for the challenge.
“Everyone here at Forest wants to win this Cup so we know how pumped up we are for it.”
Moncaster played a pivotal role in helping The Reds book their place in this Sunday’s quarter-finals as she netted herself a hat-trick against Newark Town in the previous round. The midfielder bagged herself three goals in the second-half as she found the back of the net for the first in red and she’s hoping to build on that performance on Sunday.
She said: “I can’t wait to get back out there and to show the improvements I feel I have made in these last few weeks at training and build on my performance from the last game in the County Cup.”
Beating their neighbours on Sunday would see Forest collect their sixth consecutive win and Moncaster believes that this impressive run shows the ‘progression’ of the side.
“Six wins on the bounce will be amazing for the club and it shows our progression as a team,” Moncaster explained.
“But we know facing Notts County will be a tough game and we never go into a fixture expecting a win so our focus is all on Sunday.
“Also, no matter the occasion, where it be league action or a cup game, we want to storm each game and come away with the win.”
