Nottingham Forest Ladies face Fylde on Sunday afternoon in their first FA Women’s National League action of 2019.
Forest will be hoping to gain a valuable three points against The Coasters as they get back to league action for the first time in the new year.
The Reds will be looking to better the goalless draw from August's reverse fixture against a well-drilled Fylde side who currently sit fifth in the league table.
Both sides will be looking to make amends for their recent FA Cup exits with Fylde being knocked out by Division 1 South West side Keynsham Town in a 2-1 loss while at the same time, Forest were beaten at home by MK Dons.
Two key players that The Reds will be keeping a close eye on are Fylde attackers Sophie Charlton and Emily Hollinshead. Striker Charlton has scored five in six in all competitions while midfielder Hollinshead has netted four goals in her last three league games.
However, The Reds have goalscoring power of their own that The Coasters will be trying to stop. Ashleigh Edwards has netted four goals in her last five appearances in all competitions while Fylde will also be looking to keep Forest's leading goalscorer Katie Middleton quiet.
Forest have been bolstered by the return of Nikki Emery who came on as substitute during Sunday's narrow cup loss and made her first appearance in over 11 months for the side.
With The Reds having struggled to find the back of the net in the previous fixture, Emery's influence will help Forest search for that key goal. Georgia Hewitt also missed the cup game through injury and will be looking to help The Reds' defence against Fylde's strong attack.
Looking ahead to Sunday's fixture, Forest captain Kelly Darby said: "It's a game we're looking to win and when we last played them it was a tough game. So we'll just kick on now and try and get the three points in the league which is what it is all about."
Manager Graham Abercrombie also stated that his side are looking forward to getting back at to league action and said: "The league is the priority every year for me and I want to do well in it. I want to make sure we stay in the league, that's the important thing for us this season."
