Interview with Sophia Bonser

20 December 2019

Sophia Bonser is delighted to be back on the field after her start to the season was hampered through injury.‬

Speaking about her return Bonser said: “It’s been great to get the opportunity to be involved with the squad and to get some minutes on the pitch.‬

‪“Especially when the whole team has been on fantastic form.”‬

‪Since her return to the pitch back in late October, Bonser has took up a new position in the side’s defence. Originally a forward the youngster has been called up by Andy Cook to take up a full-back spot and it’s move she has found been made easier by her teammates along side her.‬

‪“Moving to defence has been a challenge,” Bonser explained.‬

‪“However, having quality players in defence has helped me adapt and feel more confident in a new position.”‬

‪Bonser has come back into the fold during the Reds best run of the season as they have picked up eight victories and in their last eight outings and she believes it’s a great time to be involved in the team.‬

‪“It’s an extremely great time to come back.‬

‪“The buzz around the whole squad is so high, the confidence that all the girls have is showing on the pitch and is getting us the three points and wins in the cup games.”‬

‪The team take this run into the new year as their next game comes in early January and Bonser is looking to continue this fine form in 2020.‬

‪She said: “It’s great to finish 2019 on such a high.‬

‪“Hopefully this will continue into next year to bring us the success that all the players and coaches deserve.”‬
