Nottingham Forest get their 2019-20 FA Women’s National League North season underway on Sunday afternoon as they make the long trip up to Middlesbrough in search of all three points.
It’ll be a fresh start for The Reds as they begin their first season under the helm of new head coach Andy Cook. There’ll also be plenty of new faces making their league debut for the side as they’ll also link up with Forest’s key players from the last campaign.
One of the new signings that can potentially be instrumental in Forest coming back with all three points is exciting attacking midfielder, Rebecca Rayner. The England under-21 international signed from FA Women’s Championship side, Sheffield United, during the summer and has already impressed in Garibaldi Red in the side’s recent pre-season fixtures. Rayner possess an eye for goal and has a portfolio full of skill and trickery and is a key player ‘Boro would have to be wary off heading into the fixture.
The Reds will be gearing up for revenge heading into the fixture as they struggled to pick up a single point against the North-East side, last season. ‘Boro came out victorious in both of the meetings in the last campaign as they hold a menacing attack that The Reds have to be wary of heading into the fixture. They netted a whopping 71 goals last season as they finished the season in fifth place. But the side also conceded 55 goals and with the Reds attack consisting the likes of Precious Hamilton, Katie Middleton and Ellie Casper Forest can punish them.
The game kicks off at 2pm and you can catch all the live match updates on the club's official Twitter feed @NFFCWomen.
The Reds open their home campaign on September 1st at Eastwood CFC, 2pm vs Stoke City Ladies.
