Nottingham Forest look to retain the County Cup on Friday 26th April as they face Ollerton Town at Eastwood CFC.
A win would see the Reds win their fourth straight County Cup title and create further history in the competition by winning the title an impressive 13 times.
A bye in the first round saw the Reds enter the competition in the second round where they welcomed Notts County’s senior side to Carlton Town back in November. It was afive-star performance from Forest as they secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 5-0 win. A brace from Amy Dicken, and a goal apiece from Hazzana Parnell, Katie Middleton, and Lauren Cresswell got the Reds a win in front of an impressive sized crowd. Middleton’s first half goal helped the 17-year-old reach an impressive 10 goals, so far, for the Reds in her debut senior season for the side since her graduation from Nottingham Forest Ladies’ Regional Talent Club (RTC).
The Reds romped to the semi-finals with a superb 14-0 win over Clifton All Whites in the quarter-finals as they travelled away from their home ground. The game came in the new year and saw six different goal scorers each add their name to the scoresheet. Sarah Brown produced a stand out performance for the side as she netted four times on her first senior start for the club. Hazzana Parnell, Niki Emery, Sophia Bonser, Katie Middleton, and Ashleigh Edwards, also all walked away with a brace each to round off a perfect afternoon for the Reds. It wasn’t only the score line that made it an afternoon to remember for the Reds but also for the reason that, long serving defender, Grace Walters who joined the club aged 12, captained the first team for the first time.
Forest were set to entertain Arnold Town Ladies in the semi-finals and were looking to overcome the opposition, but the Reds were awarded the win and a place in the finals as Arnold removed themselves from the fixture.
It’ll also be the return of familiar faces for the Reds as five current Ollerton Town players used to don the Garibaldi red. Megan Howard, Lauren Howard, Emma White, Amy White and Sophie Davies have all racked up 200 appearances for Forest over their playing career whilst also netting 26 goals between them during the time.
The County Cup Final will be played on 26th April at Eastwood CFC with a 7.45pm kick off.
