Match preview: Forest vs Ollerton Town

25 April 2019

Nottingham Forest face their final battle to retain the Nottinghamshire County Cup on Friday evening as they take on Ollerton Town in the big final at Eastwood CFC.

A win would see the Reds lift the cup for a fourth consecutive season and continue their record further with a 13th County Cup win.

The fixture would also allow the Reds to return to winning ways after three recent tough league match ups. Forest have failed to record a win since last February but after a successful run in the County Cup the side will be hoping to get back amongst the goals.

After receiving a 'bye' in the first round the Reds were drawn at home against Notts County in the second round and the side cruised to a 5-0 win. A brace from Amy Dicken and a goal apiece from Hazzana Parnell, Lauren Cresswell and Katie Middleton secured Forest's place in the quarter finals.

The Reds showcased their FA WNL North class in the quarter finals as they romped to a 14-0 win over Clifton All Whites in the new year. Sarah Brown impressed the Reds faithful as she netted four times on her Forest senior debut. Sophia Bonser, Hazzana Parnell, Niki Emery, Katie Middleton and Ashleigh Edwards also all added a brace each to make it an enjoyable afternoon for the side.

Only two Reds remain from last season's squad that lifted the County Cup where Forest defeated Radcliffe Olympic 2-1. Sianna Bennett started last year's final whereas Grace Walters was an unused substitute but both will be hoping to get their name on this season's starting 11.

Forest also look forward to being reunited with five former Reds. Megan Howard, Lauren Howard, Emma White, Amy White and Sophie Davies all currently play for Ollerton after previously donning the Garibaldi Red and between them all they have racked up 200 appearances for Forest whilst also netting 26 goals between them during the time.
