Forest's longest serving player Chris Cohen signed a new one-year deal with the club at the end of the 2016-17 season.

A firm fans' favourite due to his terrific consistency and work rate, Cohen started his career with West Ham, making 18 appearances for the Hammers before moving permanently to Yeovil in 2006 following a successful loan spell.

He helped the Glovers reach the final of the League One play-offs the following season - at the expense of Forest in the semi-finals - but was excited by the prospect of furthering his career with The Reds, completing his City Ground switch in July 2007.

Cohen has been a regular figure in the Garibaldi, picking up the Player of the Season awards in 2008-09 and 2012-13 seasons, but he has also had to overcome several serious injuries.

The club captain returned towards the end of the 2016-17 season, playing a pivotal role in the run-in as The Reds secured Championship safety on the final day of the season, with Cohen scoring a stunning second goal in the 3-0 win against Ipswich Town.
