Danny Fox

Date of birth

Left-sided defender Danny Fox is now preparing for his fourth full season at The City Ground having made 23 appearances during the 2016-17 campaign.

The defender initially arrived on loan from Southampton in January 2014 but his performances were enough to secure him a permanent contract at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Before arriving on Trentside the 28-year-old had been at St Mary's since 2011. He made 69 outings for The Saints, scoring his only goal for the club in a 6-1 defeat at Arsenal in September 2012.

A product of Everton's esteemed academy, Fox's early career saw him embark on loan spells with Gateshead and Stranraer before he joined Walsall on a free transfer in 2005.

He made 188 appearances and scored six times for The Saddlers during a three-year stay and his potential was spotted by Coventry, who took him to The Ricoh Arena in January 2008.

A specialist set-piece taker, Fox made 63 outings for The Sky Blues and was named the club's Player of the Year in 2009 before moving to Scottish giants Celtic.

Fox experienced Europa League football during his six-month stay at Parkhead before joining then-Premier League side Burnley. The defender made an instant impact at Turf Moor, scoring on his debut in a 2-1 win over West Ham United, but he was unable to prevent The Clarets from being relegated to the Championship and made the switch to St Mary's.

Fox has four caps for Scotland.
