David Weir joined Nottingham Forest on 14 March as the club's assistant manager, teaming up again with Mark Warburton who he had worked alongside at Brentford and Glasgow Rangers.

Weir began his playing career at Falkirk, making more than 130 appearances before joining Hearts in 1996. After two-and-a-half-years at Tynecastle, Weir moved south of the border to join Everton where he stayed for eight years and amassed more than 230 Premier League appearances.

He ended his career back in Scotland with Rangers, collecting winners' medals for the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish Cup and the League Cup, before making the move into coaching with former club Everton in 2012.

Weir, who picked up 69 caps for Scotland, was appointed manager of Sheffield United in June 2013, and joined Brentford as assistant to Mark Warburton in December 2013. He followed Warburton to Rangers in June 2015 before leaving Ibrox in February 2017.
