Nottingham Forest confirmed that Aitor Karanka agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract to be the manager of the club on 8th January 2018.

Karanka, 44, was appointed as the manager of Middlesbrough in November 2013 and he went on to lead Boro back to the Premier League. He began his managerial career as the coach of Spain Under-16s before being named as Real Madrid's assistant manager in June 2010, where he worked under José Mourinho.

In his playing days, he turned out for Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid and a glittering playing career saw him lift three Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
