John Victor joined Nottingham Forest from Brazilian side Botafogo in the summer of 2025.
Victor arrived on Trentside following two standout seasons in his homeland. Playing 39 times in all competitions for Fogo in 2024/25, the stopper was considered one of the most in-form goalkeepers in the Brazilian Série A. He made an impression on the world stage, playing every minute for Botafogo at the Club World Cup as they reached the last 16.
The previous season, having signed for the Rio de Janiero side in January 2024, Victor was a key member of the team’s league and Copa Libertadores double. Prior to his transfer from Santos to Botafogo, the 6ft 5in goalkeeper had his first experience of European football in the same season, on loan at Spanish side Real Valladolid. Experiencing life on a new continent before returning to his homeland to lift two major trophies, Victor played an impressive 62 times in the 2023/24 season.
