Under 23s: Forest 2-2 Huddersfield

16 March 2018

Nottingham Forest Under 23s moved to within a point of second place in the Professional Development League following a 2-2 draw with Huddersfield Town.

Forest started brightly at The Nigel Doughty Academy but it was the visitors who took a fifth-minute lead when Romoney Crichlow-Noble met Regan Booty's corner and powered a header past Liam Bossin.

Five minutes later and The Reds were level as Barrie McKay skipped past two challenges before he fired a low strike beyond Luke Mewitt in The Terriers' goal to restore parity.

Chances came and went for both sides but it was Forest who struck next. Jake Taylor's ball sent McKay through on goal and he unselfishly squared it to Aaron Smith who took a touch before he sent the ball into the back of the net.

The Reds did have opportunities to extend their lead but were made to pay on 68 minutes as Huddersfield levelled. Isaac Marriott's drilled cross from the right was met by Dominic Tear and he bundled the ball home from close range.

Jack Hobbs came through 71 minutes of the match unscathed before he was replaced by Jayden Richardson and despite late chances for both teams, the spoils were shared at the end of an entertaining encounter.

Forest are back in action again on Monday afternoon when they face Millwall at The Den (kick-off 2pm).
