Nottingham Forest defender Tyler Blackett is raring to go as the new season gets underway with the Carabao Cup tie against Barnsley on Saturday.
The summer signing is keen to make a positive start to life at The City Ground and is excited about getting his Forest career underway at Oakwell.
He said: “I can’t wait, I have enjoyed the pre-season so far and it seems like it is coming at the right time in terms of where the team is at with fitness and the confidence that we have. It is going to be an exciting start.
“Everyone is upbeat and excited to get started again. It has been a short break but everyone is raring to go and they want to put things right from last season, of course. It is now about focusing on what we have to do this season.
“I feel good, I was fit towards the end of last season so there were no injuries and going into the new season, I have had a full pre-season with the club here and it has been enjoyable. Everyone is up to speed now and pushing in the right direction which is good.”
Blackett made the switch from fellow Championship side Reading and he has been impressed with the work done on the training pitch so far under head coach Sabri Lamouchi.
“I have enjoyed working with him so far,” Blackett said. “I knew a bit about him from the players who have played here but working with him day to day, you can see his enthusiasm, the way he approaches the game is methodical and he has a really positive approach to the way he deals with the players.”
