New Nottingham Forest signing Cyrus Christie is eager to get off to a good start as he prepares for his debut against Huddersfield Town tomorrow night.
The full back signed on a season-long loan deal from Fulham and is hoping to help kickstart The Reds’ season against The Terriers.
He said: “We need to hit the ground running; I watched the game the other day and there is always that little hangover that you might have from the upsetting time at the end of last season and it is about getting over that hurdle.
“Whether it is a scrappy goal or a scrappy 1-0 win, you just need that and I am sure that will give the lads lots more confidence.
“I’m sure the new lads coming in will hopefully lift the morale and boost the confidence of the squad, and we need to look forward to Friday night and getting the victory.”
Christie is one of several new faces in the squad and he believes that the quality added can only push the players on to achieving something this season.
The Republic of Ireland international has experience of getting out of the division with Fulham and he knows that patience is important over a long season.
He said: “The signs are there that there is a squad that is capable of pushing for promotion and that is what we want to achieve. Everyone is in it together, it is a long season so you have to be patient.
“At Fulham, for the first promotion we were down in the table and ended up finishing third so that is what the Championship is, it is a rollercoaster season and the fans and everyone need to be patient.
“Once the wins start coming, and hopefully they come in big groups, we can push on and kick ourselves up the table.”
