Scott McKenna says that the Nottingham Forest squad are determined to get the all-important victory against Bristol City on Saturday.
The Reds take on an in-form City side who have won their opening three league games, and McKenna says it provides them with the perfect opportunity to get their own season up and running.
He said: “There will be no better time to do that than Saturday. We go into the international break then once we come out of that we go into two or three games in a week for the foreseeable future.
“If we can get a positive result on Saturday then hopefully that will give us some momentum going into the busy period of games.
“They have taken nine points from nine which is a great start to the season, but from what I have seen of the Championship before I came down, anyone can beat anyone and there is absolutely no reason why we can’t take all three points if we put in a good performance.”
McKenna made his debut last week in a new-look Forest defence and, despite losing the game at Huddersfield, he hoped his performance, individually and collectively as a back four, will have been enough to keep his place on Saturday.
He said: “It was fine and but I thought defensively we were alright. We covered each other at the right times.
“I thought we defended pretty well in the main, obviously we conceded a disappointing goal but considering it was our first game as a back four I thought we did pretty well.
“We wanted to do well individually but also do well collectively as a team. You all need to work together and if we work together as a team, it gives you a good chance to get in the team the following week.
“But whoever we are playing with, hopefully we can put in positive performances.”
