Sabri Lamouchi hailed a massive result for Nottingham Forest as they defeated Bristol City 1-0 at The City Ground.
Tiago Silva’s superb free kick was enough for Forest to claim all three points in a battling performance on Trentside. It makes it back-to-back wins for The Reds as they climbed back up to fourth in the table.
Speaking after the game, Lamouchi said: “It is a massive result, one more. That is two in a row so it is a very important result.
“About the performance, the first half was not very positive. We changed something and it was much better in the second half. Today and in some games, you need to win in different ways, like with set pieces. Tiago scored the first direct free kick and it is three important points. I think we deserved this result.
“Bristol played much better than us in the first half, they controlled the game in the first half but they didn’t create a lot of situations. We are happy with this result, I am happy for the players because it is a difficult moment but the players started the critical moment well and to finish the game with three points, that is very good.”
Despite not being overall happy with the performance of his side, Lamouchi was pleased with the clean sheet and knows that ultimately the result is all-important.
He said: “I am happy for the clean sheet, because sometimes we lost points and sometimes we took a goal in extra time. Today, we stayed focused until the end and I chose to put in Daws just because with the long ball it was better to play with our captain and it was a great result.
“We are looking for perfection but when you look at the contest and the situation, after one year we are still playing the same season. We stopped for three months and the players are making a lot of sacrifices.
“It is not easy but I told to the boys before the restart that the difference would be mentally. Today it was important to win a game like that with a clean sheet and it is a massive result.”
