Baltazar: It's hard to take

Nottingham Forest assistant coach Bruno Baltazar was frustrated at the team’s lack of concentration in the dying minutes as they conceded late to draw against Derby County.

Joe Lolley’s first-half strike looked set to give The Reds a priceless three points at Pride Park, but a cheap goal in the 97th minute scored by Chris Martin saw a share of the spoils.

Speaking after the game, Baltazar said: “It’s hard to take. Once again in the last minute of the game we are losing points. It happened earlier in the season and again today.

“We came here with a plan, we stuck to the plan until the 96th minute but unfortunately we didn’t manage to hold the score until the end of the game.

“We try to analyse every performance and every game. Obviously, we analyse this lack of concentration at the end. It is tough to find an explanation for it and t understand what happened. But we need to be focused and concentrate until the last seconds, not the last minute and we need to work on this.

“In these crucial games, all of the points are golden so we need to wrap these points up and today we are really disappointed to lose two points that we clearly deserved.”

Overall, Baltazar was pleased with the performance as The Reds kept their rivals at bay while also creating chances of their own, missed chances which ultimately proved costly.

“It was almost perfect,” he said. “Unfortunately it didn’t work out in the end. We had two or three chances to kill the game, make it 2-0 and be comfortable for the rest of the game.

“With playing against 10 men, we have to do better, perform much better and control the game. The players went after the emotional part of the game and they couldn’t manage to hold onto the score.

“We had two clear chances with Grabban, Tiago hit the post and with Alex Mighten that strategy was perfect. Derby’s team was imbalanced in attack, leaving space in behind and Alex was perfect to play the last minutes of the game, a clear chance one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he didn’t manage to score.

“It is a passionate game, it is like this and unfortunately for us we didn’t manage to get the three points. We will analyse this game quickly, close this game quickly and focus on the next one on Tuesday.”
