Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi is determined for his side to kick on and continue their form at the top end of the Championship table.
The Reds saw a strong end to 2019 send them up to fourth in the league standings, with the New Year’s Day victory against Blackburn ensuring it was a hat-trick of wins over the festive period.
But Lamouchi is aware that there is plenty of hard work ahead if they are to maintain their spot among the league’s frontrunners.
He said: “There is a good atmosphere, because the results are what they are. We deserved them, but it was really tough.
“Now the problem is not what we have done, it has been really good, it is only what we will do for the rest of the season. The past is the past and we have to focus on now.
“I am happy because Christmas time was positive, but positive because the players worked hard and did a great job.
“We have to try and give them enough rest so they can come back ready and fresh, physically and mentally, because we have a minimum of 21 games to play.
“For that, we need to be all together, very concentrated and with a big determination.”
The Reds face Reading on the weekend, the Championship’s form team having notched four straight wins, and Lamouchi knows the tough prospect that is in store at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
“In January and February, we have a lot of tough games and the next game is against the best team in the last six weeks, maybe two months,” he said.
“They are in good shape, they are a very good team with good players. They are organised with quality so it will be a tough game.
“We need to focus on the reality, and that is that we have done the first part of the season with a lot of points, but we have a lot of points to get. For that, we have to be ready because it will be really tough.
“In this league, you can lose against everybody. We have to be consistent and realistic. What we have done until now is down to the team spirit, we are defending well and playing as a team with quality.
“If we want to do what we want to do, we need more quality and more players to help this team achieve our target.”
