Match preview: Forest vs QPR in association with Football Index

21 February 2020

Check out all you need to know ahead of the big game at The City Ground between Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers in the match preview, in association with Football Index.

Nottingham Forest are back at The City Ground on Saturday as they entertain Queens Park Rangers (kick-off 3pm).

The Reds picked up four points from a busy week last week, defeating Leeds and drawing with West Brom but they will be looking to impress the home support following the disappointing defeat against Charlton last time out on Trentside.

QPR ended a four-game winless run in the league last weekend with a victory over Stoke City and Mark Warburton's side will be looking to make amends for the 4-0 defeat against The Reds back in November.

Team news

Sabri Lamouchi has confirmed that key players Lewis Grabban, Samba Sow, Sammy Ameobi, Joe Lolley and Matty Cash are all carrying knocks but is hopeful that they will be involved.

Nuno da Costa is set to be sidelined for another week after picking up a slight injury playing for the Under 23s last week.

From the opposition

QPR manager Mark Warburton is looking forward to coming up against his former club on Saturday and returning to The City Ground.

He said: “It’s a big, big club and I think the game is a complete sell out. There should be a great atmosphere and I have huge respect for the club and the owners and what they are doing.

“They are investing wisely in the club and you can see what they are driving towards. It [The City Ground] is a great place to play football and we are looking forward to it.

“Forest are a good team and they are in form. They’re hard to break down and they counter really well. They have good quality up front with the likes of Lolley, Silva, Grabban and Ameobi, so we know what we face.

“Likewise, they will be aware that we are a good team that creates chances as well. The 4-0 scoreline against them at home wasn’t a true reflection because of the red card after 50 minutes and what we have to do on Saturday is impose ourselves and recognise the importance of defending our goal with a real passion and look to use the football wisely.”
