Nottingham Forest defender Michael Dawson says that the hole squad is working towards the same goal as they prepare to take on Stoke City tomorrow night.
The Reds have made an impressive start to the Championship season and Dawson believes that togetherness, led by head coach Sabri Lamouchi, will see them fighting at the right end of the table.
He said: “Since pre-season, on the training pitch every player knows what is expected. Every player knows their jobs and what he wants from them.
“We have had that since day one, since we went to Spain. Each position, I know every other player’s jobs and he has made it very clear. We are all together, we are all working towards the same thing and we just keep our heads down and keep doing what we are doing as it is working at the minute.
“We are playing with freedom, we are solid as a team and we all attack together and defend together. After losing the first game, we spoke about going to Leeds and getting a great result and that kickstarted our season, but he doesn’t get too carried away. The focus is straight away on the next game.”
That next game is a trip to the bet365 Stadium and a match in which Forest have the chance to reach the Championship summit with victory.
Dawson believes it would be an important marker at this early stage but is fully aware that it won’t be a straight-forward match against The Potters.
“It is a great opportunity, after eight or nine games to see where we could be,” he said. “You look at the points, it is great to play on Friday night as you can sit back on the Saturday and see the results. But it is only great if we can go there and win.
“You always want to be top, but the main thing is where we are in May, that is what our aim is. We have the opportunity to go top tomorrow night, it is a great opportunity. We have put ourselves in this position and hopefully we can take it.
“We know the form that Stoke are in but we also know the quality and the threat that they have. It surprises me the form they are in because when you look at the names on paper, it is an incredible squad. Even last year, you looked at them to be one of the favourites but it shows how hard the league is.
“It is about what we do, the manager always speaks about that, and we will go there and try and perform the way that we have been.”
