Nottingham Forest Under 18s head coach Gareth Holmes believes preparation was the key to his side's 3-1 win over Bristol City on Saturday.
The Reds had trailed to an early goal from the visitors but responded superbly to score three goals and take all three points and Holmes admitted he was happy to see his side's hard work throughout the week pay dividends.
Speaking after the game, he said: "We are pleased because we spoke in midweek about hurting their backline and making sure we were more of a threat this week. The boys implemented that really well. We were happy with our work in the final third and obviously getting the three goals.”
Although The Reds conceded early in the match they soon fought back to take control and Holmes was delighred with the way his players reacted after going behind.
He said: “I think we started the game really well and probably suffered a little bit of a lapse in concentration that cost the goal but credit to the boys, they carried on the things they had been doing, they didn’t panic, they kept working on the plan and I felt they implemented it really well.
“I think that's the objective, there is no point in working in the week and not seeing the results on Saturday. From our perspective as a group, we are really pleased with the work established this week and making sure we build on that for next week.”
