"I'm lost for words"

28 November 2019

Matty Cash couldn't hide his delight and excitement after signing a new three-and-a-half year contract with Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a new deal at The City Ground on Thursday and Cash says he is thrilled to see all of his hard work pay off.

He said: "I'm absolutely delighted. It has been a good season so far for us all and I'm really happy to continue my development at this fantastic football club. I'm loving every minute of it at the moment and we just have to try and continue all of the momentum that we've built up so far.

"I can't thank everyone at the football club, and in my family, enough for all of their help and support. I'm really grateful for everyone's support and I'm lost for words that I've been able to get to this point and I just want to continue my progress.

"Personally I just to try to concentrate on each game and make sure I'm focussed on each challenge. I work hard in training and listen to watch the manager says and then I go out on the pitch and try to contribute with goals and assists whenever I can."

Cash has been a mainstay of a Forest side which currently sits fourth in the Sky Bet Championship and the midfielder-turned-defender is looking forward to an exciting run of fixtures leading up to the Christmas and New Year period.

He said: "The fans have been brilliant for us this season. We've had 28-29,000 at every home game and their support doesn't go unnoticed. Hopefully now we can keep progressing, reach the Premier League and with the plans for the new stand, it shows the club is going in the right direction.

"I'm really enjoying my football at the minute and we're playing some good stuff but we're only a quarter of the way through the season and there is a lot of football to be played. We've just got to keep our feet on the ground and keep taking every game as it comes."
