Nottingham Forest midfielder Joe Lolley wants to end the season on a high with victory against Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.
The Reds end the 2018-19 campaign at The City Ground and Lolley is determined to ensure Forest head into the summer on the back of three consecutive victories.
He said: "It would give everyone a bit of a lift, individually and as a team, and we want to end on a high. There were games in that run of defeats that we shouldn't have lost to be honest.
"Performances weren't that bad in a few of those games and silly errors cost us. We are trying to cut those out and it shows that if we are able to do that and defensively stay strong, to win three games in a row gives us something to go into next year and try to build on.
"Next year, going into pre-season and knowing that you have won the last three games, it does give you a bit of an edge going into the season."
Lolley is naturally disappointed that the season has ended without The Reds finishing in the top six but feels plenty of progress has been made.
"It has been up and down," he said. "Realistically we wanted the play-offs and that hasn't happened so the initial thought is disappointment. Obviously, compared to last season and seasons gone by, it has been an improvement and that is easy to forget.
"In that respect, we are not a million miles off and a few things here and there, we got a bit unlucky with injuries at the back and it does play a big part.
"Things haven't gone quite right for us this season but we have plenty to build on and hopefully we can push on for next year."
