Ryan Yates is eager to return from the summer break and get straight back into the action for Nottingham Forest.
The 2018-19 season was a breakthrough one for the academy graduate, making his first-team bow and scoring his first goal for the club, and he is ready and raring to get back on the pitch.
He said: “The break has been nice; it is a long, hard season so you need to recharge your batteries and look back at the season, reflect on things and I am looking forward to getting back already.
“It is good to switch off a little bit but after a couple of weeks you just want to get out there and play a bit of football.
“I only played the second half of the season so I am chomping at the bit ready to go for a full season. I just want to keep improving and if I improve myself, that will only help the team.
“I just want to play as many games as I can. The more games I play, the better I am going to get. There are some really good players, especially in central midfield so someone is always ready to take your shirt.
“I have had a good rest and I am ready to come back and go again in pre-season.”
Pre-season is a crucial period to build for the upcoming season, with Yates keen for The Reds to work on their consistency if they are to challenge at the top end of the Championship table.
He said: “It is important to lay down solid foundations and the manager can look at things which he thought that last season we were lacking in certain areas.
“Last season we weren’t consistent enough, he will look at that and look to improve on that to give us a solid base for the start of the season.”
