A late equaliser from Nais Djouahra saw Nottingham Forest forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Real Sociedad at The City Ground.
A strike from Roberto Lopez was sandwiched in between goals from Joe Worrall and Lewis Grabban and Forest had looked set for a final pre-season victory before Djouahra equalised with two minutes to play to earn a share of the spoils for the Spaniards.
Sabri Lamouchi made one change from last Friday's win over Crystal Palace as Michael Dawson replaced Alexander Milosevic but it was Dawson's central defensive partner who made an early impact as he fired The Reds in front.
Tiago Silva's left-wing corner was floated all the way to the back post and Worrall timed his run perfectly to fire the ball high into the roof of the net and leave goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli with no chance.
Forest would only be in front for nine minutes as Sociedad found a quick response. Aro Muric made a decent save with his feet from Willian Jose but the ball broke for his strike partner Lopez inside the penalty area and he coolly drilled a shot beyond the Forest keeper and into the back of the net.
The Reds responded well to that set-back and could have gone back in front on 24 minutes. Albert Adomah's deep cross found its way to Matty Cash at the back post but he lashed the ball over the crossbar from a tight angle.
That miss didn't put Forest off though and they grabbed the lead four minutes later. Rulli spilt the ball at the feet of Adomah, it rolled out to Grabban and the striker was able to round the goalkeeper and slot the ball home into an empty net.
A few half-chances came and went for both teams before Forest carved out a golden opportunity 12 minutes into the second half. Adomah raced through on goal and rounded the goalkeeper but the former Villa man was forced wide and as he crossed the ball into the box, the visitors were able to get enough men back to head away the danger.
A mass of Sociedad subsitutions interrupted the flow of the contest but Muric had to be alert to palm away a stinging, low effort from Djouahra on 73 minutes as he made sure Forest kept their lead intact.
Djouahra wasn't to be denied though as he grabbed an equaliser with only two minutes to play. The substitute beat his man inside the penalty and drove a low shot beyond Muric into the back of the net to ensure Forest were left frustrated at the end of a performance which included plenty of positives.
