Forest 0-0 Dundee

2 July 2019

There was plenty of Spanish sunshine on show at the Pinatar Arena on Tuesday night but no goals as Nottingham Forest drew a blank against Dundee.

It proved to be a low-key contest between The Reds and their Scottish Championship opponents but it was a useful evening for head coach Sabri Lamouchi as he was able to give minutes to the vast majority of his first-team players.

The game never really got going in the early stages but both Joe Lolley and Sammy Ameobi looked lively as they made a number of dangerous runs inside the Dundee half without creating anything of real note.

Lolley had an opportunity to give Forest the lead on 32 minutes but his strike from the edge of the penalty area was blocked and as the ball looped up, Dundee goalkeeper Jack Hamilton was able to make a comfortable save.

Josh Todd saw a speculative effort drift over Costel Pantilimon's crossbar before Ben Osborn's left-wing cross narrowly evaded the head of Lewis Grabban as the first half ended goalless.

Lolley looked the most threatening of the Forest attack and he almost gave The Reds the lead minutes into the second half but he hammered a strike inches wide of Hamilton's right-hand post.

Young defender Jayden Richardson had come on at half-time and he set up a chance for Lolley on 64 minutes but the midfielder's low effort from inside the penalty area was well blocked by the Dundee defence and cleared away to safety.

There was almost a carbon copy of that opportunity at the other end soon after but this time it was a terrific block from Ryan Yates which prevented Jamie Ness from finding the back of the Forest net.

So it was that Sabri Lamouchi's first match in charge of Nottingham Forest ended in stalemate but the new head coach will have seen much to build on during the second half of the pre-season tour to Spain.

Forest: Pantilimon (Steele 60'); Figueiredo (Worrall 73'), Dawson (c) (Milosevic 60'), Robinson (Johnson 80'); Cash (Richardson 46'), Yates (Bridcutt 73'), Watson (Yacob 46'), Lolley (Walker 73'), Osborn (Ansarifard 46'); Ameobi (Murphy 60'), Grabban (Appiah 60')
