Nottingham Forest earned a fine 3-0 victory to start their stay in Greece in style as they came out on top against Atromitos.
Goals in either half by Sammy Ameobi and Michael Dawson were added to by a fine Joe Lolley effort in injury time as The Reds came out on top against a side set for European football this season.
New signings Aro Muric and Yuri Ribeiro were involved for the first time in a Forest shirt, while Alfa Semedo and Albert Adomah made their bows off the bench.
Forest looked comfortable for large periods of the game and took the lead on 20 minutes through another new signing, as Ameobi tucked home from close range. Toby Edser’s corner evaded everyone at the near post before Ameobi steered the ball over the line despite the best efforts of the Atromitos goalkeeper.
Former Red Apostolos Vellios had the hosts’ first effort on goal as his acrobatic effort drifted wide, while another effort saw Muric scrambling across his goal only for it to evade the post as Forest had a comfortable half-time advantage.
Muric was forced into action just after the interval as he was alert to divert a wicked free kick away from danger, before a whole host of substitutions saw Lamouchi make nine changes.
Those changes had an instant impact as The Reds doubled their advantage. Ameobi and Lolley linked up nicely down the left following a short free kick, with Lolley’s low delivery evading Lewis Grabban at the near post but Dawson was on hand to convert from a couple of yards out.
Forest were in full control of the game as the hosts struggled to test the Reds rearguard, and the icing on the cake came in added time as Lolley picked up Grabban’s lay-off before unleashing a ferocious strike straight into the top corner from 25 yards out.
A fine work out for The Reds as their preparations for the season continue, backed magnificently, as always, by the travelling Forest fans.
