Nottingham Forest Under 18s saw their five-match unbeaten run come to an end on Saturday morning when they were defeated 1-0 by Birmingham City in the Professional Development League at the Forest Academy.
Jude Bellingham's goal on 20 minutes would prove to be the winner for The Blues in a frustrating game for Gareth Holmes' side.
It was an uneventful opening 15 minutes with either side failing to create any clear-cut chances, but The Blues were seeing most of the ball and looked the more likely to score. That showed when Bellingham tapped home in a goal-mouth scramble to give the visitors a deserved lead.
Chances were limited for The Reds with Ethan Dekel-Daks' curled effort from long-range the only time they tested the 'keeper in the first half.
Dekel-Daks came close to equalising after the break when his free-kick was well saved by the Birmingham stopper, but it was the visitors who continued to see most of the ball as Sam Greenwood was shown a yellow card. That changed, however, when Holmes made a double change, bringing on Riley Harbottle and Will Swan for Tawanda Mutoti and Trialist D.
Frustrations were evident amongst the home side and that showed when Malique Spooner went into the book after a succession of fouls, as Greenwood was replaced by Trialist E.
The Reds continued to push hard for an equaliser with Swan looking lively on his return from injury, but it was The Blues who came away with all three points.
