A Will Swan strike secured a point for Nottingham Forest Under 18s as they drew 1-1 at Leeds United in the Professional Development League.
Niklas Haugland fired the hosts in-front in the first-half but Swan’s leveller after the break meant it finished level at Thorp Arch.
The Reds had a good chance to take the lead early on when some good work from Fin Back played through Gabriel Ogunseri, but the forward’s shot was blocked by the Leeds ‘keeper.
But it was the home side who took the lead on 22 minutes through Niklas Haugland when the Leeds man fired home after a good run inside the box. Ogunseri nearly responded for The Reds however after some neat play with Keith Asare, but the striker couldn’t get his shot away.
Asare then went close himself as he curled a shot inches over the crossbar as they went into the break a goal down.
Forest started the second half well and that showed when Swan grabbed an equaliser for his side. The youngster was played through on goal and coolly slotted it past Harrison Male in the Leeds net.
Swan then had a huge chance to edge The Reds into the lead on 64 minutes. Alex Gibson-Hammond’s initial shot was well saved before Swan pounced on the rebound, but he put it wide of the target.
Leeds then had a couple of chances of their own and could have won it at the end as Michael Statham made an excellent save to deny Henri Kumwenda, but the game finished level with The Reds bringing a point back to Nottingham.
