Nottingham Forest legends John McGovern, Garry Birtles and Frank Clark attended a coffee morning for veterans as part of the Forest Forces programme.
The Nottingham Forest Community Trust host the regular mornings at The City Ground as a way to support former Armed Forces personnel and the three European Cup winners all attended the event earlier on Friday.
The European Cup trophy was on display as the players told tales of their playing days, while those attending had the chance to speak to other like-minded individuals and build friendships.
John McGovern said: "These kind of events are very important as there should be an appreciation there. Some of them might have been in action and put their lives at risk, so if we can't organise events like this to try and tell them a few comical football stories, then we aren't much use to the world.
"It is great that people have come along and it makes new friends. They will have been meeting different people and when you get over 65, your friends start to diminish so this is a great way to make new friends and it is a brilliant thing for everyone who turns up."
If you are over 50 and would like to attend future breakfast and coffee mornings, please send your name, age and military rank to firstname.lastname@example.org
