Watson on Wednesday

15 December 2019

Ben Watson said the whole squad are determined to put things right next week after the disappointing defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Reds were humbled 4-0 at The City Ground and Watson knows they need to put in a performance next weekend at Huddersfield.

Speaking after the game, he said: “The first half was a disaster. Credit to Sheffield Wednesday, they were better than us all over the pitch and they took their chances.

“I had a great chance at 2-0 which would have changed the game had it gone in. But it is one of those days that we have to forget about and move on. It was a disaster, simple as that.

“It is the first time that it has happened and we have been punished for it. They have two good strikers and if you give them a chance they will score goals.

“We will go over the game, we will see where we have done wrong and we will put that right for next week and we have to look forward to the Huddersfield game now.

“We will put it right. I have full belief in the squad and everyone involved; we are on a little drought and if you look through the league, everyone is beating everyone.

“We haven’t won in four games but you look at the table and if we win that game in hand, we will go third. It is not just us that it is happening to, but it is an opportunity for us that if we took the points that we believe we could have done, it would have been a different story.”
