Nottingham Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi says he and his team are raring to go for Saturday's Sky Bet Championship curtain-raiser against West Bromwich Albion.
Excitement levels have been building throughout pre-season and Lamouchi admits he is pleased that the start of the campaign has arrived after many weeks of preparation.
Speaking ahead of the game he said: "I'm excited that the league finally starts tomorrow. I know the stadium will be full so there are obviously big expectations from the supporters, from the players and from myself. Now there are only 24 hours to wait so I am looking forward to this fantastic challenge.
"Of course with a good performance you stand a better chance of achieving a positive result so that is what we are looking for. I'm very happy with the attitude of the players during pre-season and now we must repeat what we have been working on in training and in the friendlies.
"To start at home is not easy but I would prefer to play a strong team like West Bromwich Albion at home. We have a tough start to the season, playing West Brom, Leeds and Birmingham but we must play every team during the season so let's get going!"
Lamouchi has received mixed news on the injury front ahead of the first game of the season as Tendayi Darikwa has been ruled out with a knee problem while Joao Carvalho could be back in training earlier than scheduled.
He said: "It was really bad news for Tendayi. He asked me after the Real Sociedad game if he could play in the game at Lincoln but then he picked up the injury. I was so sad for him because he asked me if he could come back early from his holiday after the African Cup of Nations and now we've lost him for a few months.
"We are now looking for a right-back in order to replace Tendayi. I have played Matty Cash at right-back just to try him there even though it is not his position and that is because situations like this can happen at any time.
"Joao Carvalho will be back in training with us next week which is really pleasing. I have not had chance to have a training session yet with Joao so it will be great to work with him and for him to get back into training with his teammates."
