Summer signing Carl Jenkinson acknowledges the visit to Elland Road tomorrow will be a difficult one but insists Nottingham Forest have enough quality to match Leeds United.
The former Arsenal man met up with the squad shortly after signing earlier in the week and is full of praise for his new teammates and head coach Sabri Lamouchi.
Speaking ahead of the game, he said: “It has been really enjoyable and I haven’t got a bad word to say about the city, the club, the boys and the management. I’ve really enjoyed the first couple of days. It’s a good group of lads to be honest a good, respectful bunch of lads.
“I'm very impressed with what the gaffer had to say on the phone and since I’ve been here he’s just the same in person. He’s an impressive man and from what he has said to me it’s going to be an appealing style of football and the sort of football that fans are going to enjoy watching so it’s all positive on that front.”
Jenkinson, who admits he hasn’t played as much first-team football recently as he would have liked is looking forward to putting that right in his new venture with The Reds.
He said: “I’m a footballer and I want to play football, and in any profession you go into your job and you want to do what you get paid to do and I think I’ve not done enough of that in recent years.
“I want to get back to playing regular football and ultimately you see how good you can be when you are playing week-in, week-out. Any footballer will tell you with regards to getting into a run of games is when you play your best football.
“So that’s what its all about for me now, playing every week and seeing where I can really get to as a football player and that's what I am most excited about.”
The defender’s first test comes as The Reds make the journey to Elland Road, and Jenkinson is well aware of the challenge that he is facing but insists that both sides have a lot of quality in their ranks.
He said: “They're a very good team who were close to going up last year and I think when you hear of Leeds as a football club you know it is a proper club. They’ve got a proper team so it’s going to be a difficult game for sure.
“But we’ve got a great team as well I can tell you that, so will go up there with full confidence.”
