Match preview: Forest vs Blackburn

12 April 2019

Nottingham Forest entertain Blackburn Rovers at The City Ground in their final Saturday home game of the season (kick-off 3pm).

With the season drawing to a close, The Reds hopes of a play-off finish have been dashed in the last week following defeats against Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday, but Martin O'Neill's men will be looking to bounce back against Rovers on Saturday and carry on their fine home form which has seen five wins in the last six outings.

Tony Mowbray's men have had an up and down season following their promotion from League One last season and the victory over Derby in midweek would have gone a long way to ease any lingering relegation fears.

Team news

Sam Byram could be in line to feature again having come through his first 90 minutes since August in the midweek match against Sheffield Wednesday, while Arvin Appiah will be hoping to keep hold of his starting place following his first league start for The Reds.

Michael Dawson and Tobias Figueiredo are nearing a return for Forest following their injuries.

The opposition view

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray says Rovers will have to be at their best if they are to come away with a win at The City Ground this weekend.

He said: "Forest will be hurting from a defeat in their last game and we all know how difficult it is to go to The City Ground. Normally there's 30,000 people there, it's all very red and noisy.

"Knowing Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane, they will have their team really wound up for this, as an opportunity at home.

"I think their home record since Martin has been there has been pretty solid. So it's a tough game for us - one that we know we're going to have to be at our best in order to get a result.

"Two years ago we went there and got a positive result, so we should go there in a positive frame of mind and try to get another positive result."
