Nottingham Forest Under 23s let a two-goal lead slip as they drew 2-2 with Sheffield United yesterday afternoon.
Goals from Virgil Gomis and Brennan Johnson had given The Reds a half-time lead but The Blades hit back in the second half through strikes by Daniel Lafferty and Jordan Hallam to earn a point.
Forest had a goal disallowed on 14 minutes as Anel Ahmedhodzic turned home Toby Edser’s free kick, but just a minute later The Reds went in front as Edser was the provider again, sliding a ball through for Gomis to run onto and slot past goalkeeper Jake Eastwood.
The Reds were on top and on 21 minutes it was two as Gomis squared for Johnson to tap home and give them a two-goal lead.
Despite Forest’s dominance of the first half, Sheffield United hit back 20 minutes from time as Lafferty scored past Liam Bossin and then a big deflection on 81 minutes saw Hallam level the scores.
