Under 23s: Forest 2-0 Cardiff

Nottingham Forest Under 23s climbed to third in the Professional Development League table with a 2-0 win against Cardiff City at The City Ground last night.

Second-half strikes by Toby Edser and Virgil Gomis secured the victory for The Reds as they continued their unbeaten run to four games.

Forest took the lead just after the hour mark when Edser capitalised on a defensive error to finish precisely from 20 yards, and seven mintues later Gomis made it two with a driven low finish to seal the victory.

The Under 23s are next in action on Monday when they travel to face Sheffield United (kick-off 2pm).

Forest: Henderson, Richardson, Preston, Coveney, Ahmedhodzic, Gabriel (Stewart 45'), Taylor (Gallacher 45'), Fornah, Gomis, Edser (c), Sodeinde (Mergaritis 67')
