Reds take part in training match

11 October 2018

The Nottingham Forest first-team squad kept up their match sharpness during the international break as they took part in a behind-closed-doors training game this morning.

The first-team squad was split into two teams, with players from the Under 23s squad making it 11-a-side, and the 60-minute match ended 3-3 at the Forest Academy.

The team wearing red took an early two-goal lead as Daryl Murphy fired home from the edge of the box via the post and Matty Cash doubled the lead with a close-range header from Ben Osborn's cross.

The side wearing the gold third kit hit back though as Joe Lolley reduced the deficit with a fine goal, skipping past three challenges before firing into the bottom corner, and the golds were level just before the interval as Lewis Grabban rifled an effort in off the post following Lolley's through pass.

After a short break, the gold team completed their comeback as Grabban scored his second goal, latching onto a reverse through ball from Lolley to dink an effort over the on-rushing Luke Steele.

There was time for one final goal as the reds restored parity thanks to Virgil Gomis's goal, with the Under 23s frontman controlling Murphy's cut back and turning in the area before shooting into the bottom corner.
