Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka was in no doubt that his side fully deserved their victory over Middlesbrough this afternoon.
The Reds produced a fine performance to run out 2-0 winners at the Riverside Stadium and Karanka was delighted for his squad.
Speaking after the game, he said: "I am really pleased for the players. We have been working together for three or four months, we are not still at our best and we played an amazing game against one of, if not the, best teams in the league. I am really proud of them as this group of players deserves the best.
"I said after the Swansea game that we had improved and I said after the game on Wednesday that we had taken a step back, but with this group of players games like today will arrive.
"I am pleased for them because they deserve it and for the players who weren't playing before but played today. Once again we showed that going together, we are a good team."
He added: "No doubt we deserved it. We were much better than them from the first minute until the end. The way we played, the chances we had, the goals we scored. It is not easy to score against them as they had conceded just four goals; we scored two and had chances.
"I don't remember chances for them; it was just long balls and second balls and we were really good. It is a good game and a good performance."
