Nottingham Forest Under 18s returned to winning ways on Saturday morning when they comfortably defeated Crewe Alexandra 2-0 at The Nigel Doughty Academy.
Goals from Ethan Dekel-Daks and Elliott Andrew secured all three points for the young Reds as they secured another important three points.
Gareth Holmes's side started the contest well and were unlucky when Will Swan sent in a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but nobody was on hand to put the ball into the net. But it was Crewe who forced Forest goalkeeper Michael Statham into a stunning save when he tipped over an excellent strike that was heading for the top corner.
Forest had appeals turned down for a penalty soon after when Mallique Spooner appeared to have been brought down inside the box, but it didn't matter as The Reds scored the opener five minutes later.
The lively Dekel-Daks picked up the ball inside the area and curled a fine effort with the outside of his foot into the bottom left hand corner to give the home side a deserved lead.
Andrew was unlucky not to extend The Reds' lead on the brink of half-time when he lined up a volley at the back post unmarked, but his effort was well saved by the Crewe goalkeeper who got enough on it to push it over the bar for a corner.
After the interval The Reds continued to impress, and they deservedly made it two through Elliott Andrew on 64 minutes. The youngster found some space and fired in a shot from 20-yards which was too powerful for the Crewe 'keeper to keep out.
Just two minutes later Forest could have had more when Fin Back's shot cannoned off the side of the post after some excellent football from Gareth Holmes' side.
Ten minutes later The Reds had captain Riley Harbottle to thank when his excellent block kept out the visitors who searched for a goal back, but they failed to do so as the Under 18s secured another impressive three points.
