Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka continued to put his players through their paces with a behind-closed-doors practice match this morning.
The two teams, which were made up of first-team squad members, went head-to-head in the scorching early morning heat at the club's training ground.
Ben Brereton opened the scoring for the side wearing blue, slotting the ball home from the spot after Adlene Guedioura was adjudged to have been brought down in the box.
The side wearing white hit back shortly after though as Matty Cash found space, cutting in from the right and creeping a shot into the far corner to draw the score level.
As the players took on board some much-needed refreshments at the break, it was evident that this was no practice match as the match sharpness started to return. Despite the searing heat, the intensity and pace of the match continued to build as both sides went in search of the win.
Summer signing João Carvalho put the blue team in front as the Portuguese forward cut inside from the right and neatly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper diving to his right.
After taking the lead, the blues looked to kill the match off with a third but Gil Dias's delightful curling left-footed effort from outside the box skimmed the far post.
However, it was the whites that got the crucial final goal when Ryan Yates nodded home from a Ben Watson delivery as the match ended all square and capped off a positive first week of pre-season training.
