Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka was pleased with the way his side controlled the game against Scunthorpe United tonight.
The Reds defeated their League One opposition 1-0 thanks to Ryan Yates’s goal and the overall performance was an improvement from the weekend according to the Forest boss.
Speaking after the game, he said: “I am really pleased today because you could see the way that we approached the game today was completely different to the way that we approached the game last Saturday.
“Today, Scunthorpe was a really good team and we learned from last Saturday that we had to start the game as good as possible. I changed the players so the players who played today knew that they had a chance and I am pleased with them as they played really well, with a good intensity.
“We have been training this morning so they were a little bit tired so, even with the training session this morning, they performed really well so I am really pleased.”
Karanka admits that he has a clearer idea of is starting team for the first match of the Championship season, with one more pre-season match against Bournemouth to come on Saturday.
He said: “I have, maybe, a bit more clearer now because I said to the players one month or one-month-and-a-half ago that they would tell me who was going to play.
“Now, with the last two games, I have more ideas. They showed me who is better at this level but now we have another two weeks, another game on Saturday and for sure, I will try to put my best 11 against Bristol on 4th August.”
