Preview: Preston (H)

30 January 2018

Nottingham Forest are back in Sky Bet Championship action tonight as they take on Preston North End at The City Ground.

After a brilliant 2-0 win away at league leaders Wolves in their last league fixture, The Reds exited the Emirates FA Cup against Hull City on Saturday and Aitor Karanka's side will be looking for an immediate response under the lights on Trentside.

Forest earned a point with a 1-1 draw at Deepdale last month and will be looking for all three to make it back-to-back league wins.

Preston have performed well in the Championship this season and sit just four points outside the play-off places. But Alex Neil's side are winless in their last three league outings and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Sheffield United on the weekend.

See below for the pre-match views from the Forest camp.

Team news

Liam Bridcutt serves the second game of his two-match ban so misses out for The Reds, with David Vaughan expected to come into the midfield.

Daryl Murphy will be missing again through injury.

From the opposition

Preston boss Alex Neil is looking for his side to increase their performance levels when they visit The City Ground tonight.

Speaking to Preston's official website, Neil said: "Predominantly a lot of our performances over the course of the season have been of a good level, unfortunately I don't think we've had those levels in recent weeks but we were here previously in the season and then that coincided with probably our best run of the season so we just need to get refocused and make sure that we are ready to get the job done now.

"We made quite a lot of changes on Saturday so we should have some lads that might come back in with fresh legs and some lads who performed on Saturday who we are hoping will be ok and can go again.

"You would like to think that it makes us stronger, we've got a couple of players still missing which will make us stronger again but I think it just shows how much we've tried to improve the squad now we have got some really difficult decisions to make.

"Guys who are really good players are going to miss out on even getting on the bench and it's certainly not a decision that I will be taking lightly."

One to watch - Ben Pearson

Midfielder Ben Pearson has been absent recently for North End but he is someone who makes them tick.

He was missed the draw with Birmingham through injury and was rested for the trip to Sheffield United in the Emirates FA Cup, but is expected to return to the team for tonight's game.

The 23-year-old's endeavour and tireless energy in midfield is sure to be a driving force for North End tonight.
